Workshops

There is an old saying, advice is always unwanted and unpalatable. No matter how well-intentioned and how well-delivered it may be. Learning always comes form within, not from an outside person or source. We therefore recommend and practice the workshop approach to interactive sessions, in which the facilitator plays a minimal role and the participants do it all by themselves. The following format has been found satisfactory in a variety of situations, but like with anything else in life, there is always more than one way to skin the cat, so a workshop can very well be done on a flexi-basis. Workshops work best when the group size is neither too small nor too big, say 25-30.

SETTING THE STAGE

  • Session 1 : Introduction & orientation to the topic
  • Session 2 : Power-point presentation by facilitator
  • Session 3 : Interactions on session 2

BREAK

WORKSHOP

  • Session 4 : Top of the mind point submitted in a confidential slip by each participant
  • Session 5 : Regrouping of points & allotment to participants split into sub-groups
  • Session 6 : Discussion by sub-groups
  • Session 7 : OHP presentation by sub-groups along the following lines:
    1. define / sharp-focus the issue
    2. review what has been done about it in the past; if satisfactory, what and why; if not, again what and why
    3. suggest a plan of action for the future, both short & long term
  • Session 8 : Resume / consensus / self-contract / follow up plan with support person
